Last Summer I Found God in the River

what clings, what stays
the noise we make in ink

the lightning fields
magnified by glass floods

bright grass fiddled
bare feet to kiss his feet to know

gospel, to really know it
I had to run

Lauren Gordon is the author of  Meaningful Fingers (Finishing Line Press) and Keen (Horse Less Press) as well as the forthcoming Generalizations about Spines (Yellow Flag Press), and Fiddle Is Flood (Blood Pudding Press). Her work has appeared or is forthcoming with Sugar House Review, burntdistrict, Inter|rupture, Smoking Glue Gun, [PANK], MiPOesias, Menacing Hedge among others. She has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and a Best of the Net prize and is a Contributing Editor to Radius Lit. She lives outside of Milwaukee.
